He was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and has had a tough life right from the start. Within 48 hours of being born, Damon underwent two surgeries: one in his back and one in his brain. In the years to come he would undergo more surgeries. At the age of 9, Damon has had a total of six surgeries with more planned for the future.
Due to his condition, Damon is paralyzed from the waist down and uses a wheelchair to get around. But he doesn’t let that hinder him. He is very active and social. He can be shy at first but once he gets comfortable, there’s no stopping him! He is an avid gamer and a lover of all things Star wars. He even owns a couple of Star Wars Encyclopedias! His dream is to meet real Storm Troopers. He thinks they will be really cool, like him.
Although his life is hard, Damon is still loved and has a whole village of people by his side ready to assist him when needed. Damon would like to grow up to become a teacher one day. He is passionate about helping others and teaching is his way of doing it. He is inspired by his wonderful teachers at school that push him to be his very best self.
We can’t wait to take Damon and his family to Disney World with the help of Jersey Mikes, Kroger, Planet Fitness, Masco, Kinetyc, Emagine Theatres, Canterbury Village, Village of Rochester, Glenlore Trails and our charitable partner Angels of Hope!
