Meet Channing!
He was born with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) on November 21st, 2018. This unfortunate disease terminated his kidney function within days of being born which eventually required him to undergo a kidney transplant in 2020. His dad was fortunate enough to be his donor. As if that wasn’t enough, at 3 months old Channing, began having seizures of unknown causes until an MRI showed an embolus stroke in the left part of his lower brain. Though the stroke he had in 2019 does impact him some, especially with speech and fine motor skills, he will surprise you on what he can do and the doctor who treated him is in disbelief of is miraculous recovery!
Today, Channing is a first grader and not a day goes by of him showing his imaginative and creative self. He enjoys going to school and seeing his classmates; he is seemingly the class clown and enjoys his para pro/helper at school. He LOVES going to the zoo and learning about and seeing animals, when not visiting a zoo, he enjoys watching Wild Kraats where his interests in animals’ blossoms. He additionally enjoys learning about the human body — where a National Geographic book, “Ultimate Body-Pedia” is routinely chosen by him is read to him before bedtime. Lastly, Channing loves acting out many of the Disney characters he sees on TV/Movies and hears on his Tonie Box, Toy Story and The Lion King are his ultimate favorites!
We can’t wait to take Channing and his family to Disney World with the help of Jersey Mikes, Kroger, Planet Fitness, Masco, Kinetyc, Emagine Theatres, Canterbury Village, Village of Rochester, Glenlore Trails and our charitable partner Angels of Hope!
